Querida Comunidad Puertorrique\u00f1a,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El orgullo que siento por nuestra cultura es algo m\u00e1gico que solo eventos como el Festival de la Bah\u00eda pueden lograr para entender la emoci\u00f3n que me da compartir con otros puertorrique\u00f1os como yo y nuestros aliados. Es un inmenso privilegio poder contar con un grupo de voluntarios y una directiva que dan su todo y m\u00e1s por su comunidad y por nuestra misi\u00f3n de ser una plataforma ejecutiva para el desarrollo cultural y social de los boricuas y sus comunidades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para felicitar y agradecer a todos aquellos que hicieron esto posible compartiendo sus recursos: la Ciudad de Providence, la Ciudad de Central Falls, Neighborhood Plan, Availability Staffing Network (ASN), el Providence Tourism Council (PTC), Telemundo, Nuestra Salud y el Art, Culture and Tourism (ACT) de Providence. Sin su colaboraci\u00f3n y compromiso, nuestro festival no hubiera sido posible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Y, por \u00faltimo y m\u00e1s importante, gracias a nuestra comunidad por sacar tiempo el domingo 21 de julio para compartir en familia y celebrar nuestra cultura. Durante nuestra historia, ha habido miles de momentos que han definido nuestra identidad. Sea en la tragedia o en la alegr\u00eda de una victoria de nuestro equipo nacional, son estos momentos donde nos vemos cara a cara para darnos la mano y un abrazo. Es de esta chispa de amor que nace este festival \u2013 del hambre de compartir como familia nuestras tragedias, nuestras victorias; nuestras penas y glorias en familia. Es un lugar seguro para escuchar el \u201cAy Bendito\u201d de nuestros abuelos, o saber que puedes comerte un pincho como en casa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Para la Asociaci\u00f3n de Puertorrique\u00f1os Profesionales, es un privilegio ver las caras lindas de nuestra gente en color azul, rojo y blanco. Mientras nos seguimos preparando para dar lo mejor de nosotros para todos los boricuas en Rhode Island, les exhorto a que sigan buscando la excelencia puertorrique\u00f1a en todo lo que hagan, y que nunca se olviden de amar a su pr\u00f3jimo, especialmente si es un hermano borinque\u00f1o. Venimos con diferentes trasfondos: algunos que nacieron en la isla y se mudaron a Rhode Island, otros cuyos ancestros son de Puerto Rico y se han criado en este estado, y otros que son una mezcla de diversos pa\u00edses y sienten, aun as\u00ed, una felicidad profunda al identificarse como boricuas. Esa es la magia de nuestra tierra: siempre hay espacio en el coraz\u00f3n de aquellos que quieren a los puertorrique\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pride I feel for our culture is something magical that only events like the Bay Festival can achieve to understand the excitement it gives me to share with other Puerto Ricans like myself and our allies. It is an immense privilege to have a group of volunteers and a board of directors who give their all and more for their community and for our mission to be an executive platform for the cultural and social development of Puerto Ricans and their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to take this opportunity to also congratulate and thank all those who made this possible by sharing their resources: the City of Providence, the City of Central Falls, Neighborhood Plan, Availability Staffing Network (ASN), the Providence Tourism Council (PTC), Telemundo, Nuestra Salud, and the Art, Culture and Tourism (ACT) of Providence. Without their collaboration and commitment, our festival would not have been possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, last but not least, thanks to our community for taking the time on Sunday, July 21, to share with family and celebrate our culture. Throughout our history, there have been thousands of moments that have defined our identity. Whether in tragedy or in the joy of a victory of our national team, it is in these moments that we see each other face to face to shake hands and give a hug. It is from this spark of love that this festival is born \u2013 from the hunger to share as a family our tragedies, our victories; our sorrows and glories as a family. It is a safe place to hear the \u201cAy Bendito\u201d of our grandparents, or to know that you can eat a pincho like at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the Association of Puerto Rican Professionals, it is a privilege to see the beautiful faces of our people in blue, red, and white. As we continue to prepare to give our best for all Puerto Ricans in Rhode Island, I encourage you to continue seeking Puerto Rican excellence in everything you do, and never forget to love your neighbor, especially if they are a Borinque\u00f1o brother or sister. We come from different backgrounds: some were born on the island and moved to Rhode Island, others whose ancestors are from Puerto Rico and have grown up in this state, and others who are a mix of various countries and still feel a deep happiness in identifying as Puerto Rican. That is the magic of our land: there is always space in the hearts of those who love Puerto Ricans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
